U.S. Citizenship Naturalization Test
In a separate paragraph,
pretend an undocumented individual took the test. What are some possible
stressors that he/she might encounter (if one struggled in answering the
questions), and possible benefits that are afforded (if one did do well in
answering the questions). In the actual Naturalization test, you would be
given just 10 of the 100 questions and be expected to answer 6 correctly in
addition to a writing and reading portion of the test.

The American Family has
undergone many changes throughout the years. These changes have shaped what
defines a family as well as how a family functions. Create a Power Point
presentation or a FREE Prezi Presentation (www.prezi.com) that shows a timeline of changes
that have impacted the American Family. (For the free version of Prezi, simply
click "Get Started", then navigate over to the "Basic"
instead of "Individual or Teams" and you will see the free version.)
Your timeline must include a
minimum of 8 events. Each event is to be identified by time period/date, the
event being chronicled and the impact of the event on the American Family. Your
presentation must include a cover slide and a reference slide. Your information

Citizens (Age 65+)
Provide a transcript of your
interviews using these questions. Plan to interview at least two senior
citizens in order to complete the assignment.

Where were you born/raised?
What was your family composition? How
many siblings?
Were your parents married? Did they
ever divorce?
What is your highest level of
education?
What is the biggest difference about
families now, as opposed to when you were being raised?
What do you think today's families
are lacking?

the two interviewees' responses
- Address
any public policies available to support senior citizens
- Describe
what are your two biggest 'takeaways' from these interviews

your essay, be sure to include at least two (2) in-text citations and matching

Week 5 Discussion If I had known then what I know now
This week you read about
intimacy, love, dating, and marriage. Think back over your teen years. Who
taught you about intimacy, relationships, and sexual health? What was your
dating life like? Did you want to get married one day? If so, what did you
imagine it would be like? If you are married now, is marriage what you
expected? Why or why not? What qualities are important in a mate? In your
experience, what makes a healthy relationship? Is intimacy the same as sex? If
you could go back, is there anything you'd do differently?
As you think about those
questions, write a letter to you as a teen, giving relationship advice. Your
letter should address at least 4 of the questions above as well as any other
topics you'd like to include. You may share your experiences as well as material
from our readings and any other scholarly sources you find helpful.

There are many forms of
family violence and it happens all around us. You may have experienced family
violence or know someone who has. Based on what you've learned, what do you
think causes family violence and how do we stop it?
What resources are available
in your area for victims of family violence? Please do a search online for at
least 1 resource for each of the following: domestic violence, child abuse, and
elder abuse. Be sure to provide the name of the agency, a brief summary of the
services they provide, and contact information.

Week 6 Assignment 3 Changing Roles
Instructions
As we have seen in our readings thus far, the American Family has
undergone many changes. These changes are impacting relationships, marriage,
families, and parenthood. Of these 4 areas, choose 1 area that is of most
interest to you to do some additional research on the changes that have
occurred. Find 2 recent (within the last 5-7 years) scholarly articles on the
area that you have selected that reflect the changes that have occurred.
Briefly summarize each article and then compare and contrast the 2 articles.
Your paper will include an introduction of the topic, a no more than 2
paragraph summary for each article selected, a 1-2 paragraph discussion
comparing and contrasting the information found. Please create your assignment
as an APA formatted word document to included a cover page, a reference page
and APA formatted citations throughout. You will NOT need an abstract for this

Week 7 Discussion Divorce, Remarriage, Cohabitation, and Staying Single
Throughout the course we've
examined some of the challenges diverse families face. Sometimes the challenges
break the family down and divorce is the end result. After a divorce, some
people choose to stay single, some get married again, while others decide to
just live together. For this discussion please compile a pros and cons list for
divorce, remarriage, cohabitation, and choosing to be single. Be sure to cover
factors such as the effects on the children, income, emotional well-being, etc.

in our readings to complete the discussion this week.
While
most people can identify the issues affecting American families, not many
people understand what goes into the development of family policy, let alone
agree on what the role of government should be regarding families. Based on
your experience and what you learned this week, what are the principles that
should guide the development of family policy? Please share your
"take away" from the reading this week. For example, did you learn
anything new or did anything surprise you? Feel free to use outside scholarly
sources to complete this discussion as well.

Over the course of the past 8 weeks, we have examined a number of
issues that are facing families today. For this assignment you are going to
select an issue facing families today and address the following:
- Identify the issue that you have selected
- Discuss the impact of the issue selected on
the family
- Provide some history on how the selected
issue has evolved
- Identify 3 resources that are available to
assist families experiencing the selected issue. Provide a summary of what
each resource has to offer and how it can be helpful.
- Provide a closing discussion on what is
needed to resolve your selected issue. Be sure to include policy changes
as well as societal changes in your discussion.
Assignment Requirements: Create your assignment in a word document,
length 4 content pages, APA formatted, (In addition to 4 content pages you must
include cover page and reference page) use minimum of 3 references to support
your writing. You must show how and where the references used at the end of
your paper are used to support the body of your paper through the use of in
text citations. Please avoid using direct quotes so that your Turnitin
Originality Score is within an acceptable range.
