Analyze and then discuss the FAA press releases, the
document can be found in the TLMT 318 Course Resources folder in the resource
area Be careful to analyze, not react to, the list of proposed fines, there is
a lot of information to be gleaned from careful analysis. Analysis requires
calculation not observation so you will need to set measurable parameters and
then do the calculations. Reading the fines it is easy to recognize that many
of the fines were based upon the leaking packages, that is observation not
analysis. Saying that some percentage of the total number fines represented
leaking packages is analysis; saying that most of the incidents were caught by
ground handling personnel is observation, saying that a specific percentage of
all of the fines represent cases where ground handling personnel identified the
problem is analysis. You are required to do analysis.
For your discussion:
A. Basic results of your analysis and a discussion of your findings based upon
the scientific analysis you have conducted. this requires mathematical
calculations and development of percentages for criteria you select.
B. Analysis of company owned material (COMAT) when it is shipped in the Airline
industry and its supporting contractors.
C. The training issues raised by this list. We know that the right training is
not going to the right people so come up with explanations and/or solutions
(not fines and threats of jail time).

TLMT318_Week_3_Research_Paper_Topic
Assignment
Instructions
Instructions: You will need to submit research paper topic for
approval by no later than the end of third week. You have considerable freedom
in choosing a topic. The requirement is that you choose a topic that
requires academic research not business research and that you submit both your
paper topic (which should not contain question) and a full paragraph statement,
that statement must contain a research question to be answered or a hypothesis
to be tested. Most "why" questions focus more on workplace related
issues and business not academic or scholarly research so they seldom are
acceptable questions for scholarly research.
Identify and then discuss unique safety (not security) issues you
see related to each of the five modes of transportation. It is possible to
identify the same considerations for some but not all modes, they all have
unique dimensions. Your submission should discuss each mode and start by
identifying unique safety considerations. You then should have a separate paragraph
addressing safety considerations that might apply to groups of modes, there
should be no safety consideration that applies to all modes, that is beyond the
scope of the topic.
Review and locate one Code of Federal Regulation that you feel is
the most important one that is listed in relevance to our industry. Please list
the regulation, paragraph, and reference of the regulation. Why do you feel
this is important?

Evaluate the 49 CFR, what makes this regulation an important
aspect of day-to-day operations? What would happen without it?
Assignment
Instructions
Instructions: Submit your previously approved research
paper here. Review the originality score and the markup of your paper. Make any
corrections and then upload your paper into the classroom. Papers are not ready
for grading in the classroom unless your instructor can find an originality
score in Turnitin AND the APA manuscript word document has been uploaded
to your assignment folder in the classroom
Submission Instructions:
This paper should be 3-5 pages in length and is strictly adherent to APA
formatting.
Extra Credit (2 pts on final grade) -- Amendments to the
U.S. Constitution
Which amendment do you like best, or least?
The US Constitution has been modified numerous times. From the original
ten amendments (The Bill of Rights) to the XXVII Amendment ratified in 1992,
the US Constitution is considered a living document. A PDF of these
amendments is provided attached to this forum for your easy reference.
Your assignment is to review each amendment, choose one that you think is
OUTDATED or MOST VALUABLE (your pick), and then write a 250-word initial post
on the reasons why it is important to you. You do not need to support
your views with research. Just provide an impassioned narrative on the
merits (or lack thereof) of the Amendment you chose to write about.

resource urls (CAMEO, MARPLOT, and ALOHA), make a plan of how you will handle
this problem. All 3 systems are free to be downloaded from EPA at https://www.epa.gov/cameo and can easily be learned in a day. This
presentation should be no less than 10-15 pages in length. Please think the
entire process through. Some pointers: where is your command and control
located, do not forget about planning police, fire, and paramedics, and I would

with smoke bellowing from underneath it laying against a large hill of sand.
You see a DOT placard with the number of 1403 on the rear and side of the
truck. The fire is not too bad and you have a class A fire extinguisher in your
car with you that you can easily put the fire out with. The driver is smoking
and not saying anything but to PLEASE save his truck. There is a ditch with
water about 4 feet deep and he has 5 gallon buckets on the truck which is
perfect for putting out a fire. There is a grey gravel like substance on the
ground and catches fire as well. The fires are not too large for a one person
extinguishing. What do you do? In 10-15 slides minimum, and the use of the 3
urls (CAMEO, MARPLOT, and ALOHA) and the one below, give all the information
you can find on this situation. Your ERG is PARAMOUNT and the url below is
another ERG type help site. Give all steps you would take. Also, THIS IS AN
INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT- DO NOT HAVE HELP WITH THIS FROM CLASSMATES!! ANY
INFORMATION USED, NO MATTER HOW SMALL MUST, MUST. MUST BE CITED WITH AUTHOR,
